Interesting Historical Facts: Julius Caesar brought Gaul under the control of Rome, which meant the Romans now expanded to the North Sea. Additionally, Julius Caesar invaded England (Great Britain) in 55 BC. With the destruction of the triumvirate, Julius Caesar found himself in a stalemate with both Pompey and the Roman Senate. Crossing the Rubicon with his legions of seasoned soldiers, Julius Caesar initiated an internal Roman war in 49 BC. Julius Caesar proved the victor in this fight and became the unquestioned controller of the Roman government and civilization.

As a result of having absolute control, Julius Caesar completely changed all the traditional ways of Rome including the ruling government and general society. Julius Caesar was declared tyrant in perpetuity, then he sought to bring the Roman Republic into a centralized organizational structure. Traitorous senators, including Marcus Junius Brutus, killed Julius Caesar on the Ides of March in 15 March of 44 BC. These rebellious senators wanted to normalize Rome to before the changes caused by Julius Caesar.

However, this lofty goal didn't happen because Rome was plunged into internal war and conflict. Gaius Octavianus established a never ending tyrannical government for Rome. In 42 BC, the Roman Senate made Julius Caesar one of the Roman gods. What we know about Julius Caesar originates from his writings called Commentaries (Commentarii), which chronicled Julius Caesar's military conquests. Additional information about Julius Caesar is found in materials from Julius Caesar's adversary named Cicero, the written works of Catullus and Sallust's writings about history.
